WebP to JPG / PNG Converter
Convert WebP images to the formats everything supports. Upload a WebP file, choose JPG or PNG, and download the converted image — all in your browser, with no uploads and no watermark. Useful whenever an app, printer, or older program refuses to open a WebP.
How to Use
Select your WebP image, choose whether you want JPG (smaller file, no transparency) or PNG (lossless, keeps transparency), then click Convert. Download the result with one click. The tool also works in reverse for other formats — any image the browser can open can be converted.
Why This Tool Is Useful
WebP is great for the web but still isn't accepted everywhere — plenty of older desktop software, printing services, marketplaces, and document editors reject it. Converting to JPG or PNG makes the image universally usable. Since it runs locally, you can convert private images without sending them to an online service.
Why WebP Files Cause Problems
WebP was designed by Google to compress better than JPG and PNG while supporting both lossy compression and transparency. Browsers all support it, and many sites now serve images as WebP — which is why images you save from the web often arrive as .webp files.
The trouble is that plenty of non-browser software still doesn't recognise the format, so you end up with a file you can't open, print, or upload.
Should You Choose JPG or PNG?
Pick JPG for photographs — it produces a much smaller file and photos have no transparency to lose. Pick PNG when the image has transparency, contains text or flat graphics, or when you need a lossless copy.
One important caveat: JPG has no alpha channel, so any transparent areas are flattened to white. If transparency matters, PNG is the only correct choice.
Format Comparison
The table below summarises how the three formats differ so you can pick the right output.
WebP vs JPG vs PNG
| Format | Compression | Transparency | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| WebP | Lossy or lossless | Yes | Modern web delivery |
| JPG | Lossy | No | Photographs, small files |
| PNG | Lossless | Yes | Graphics, text, transparency |
